Omg…my favorite summer underwear from @CurvyCouture1 has been discontinued???! I’m devastated.

People say they want custom clothing and in the next breath say they want it to be affordable, when custom clothing is going to always be significantly more than what you find in a store - even if the design is comparatively simple - because paying people fairly is not cheap.

I think if a contemporary designer is doing a cut and paste of a historical garment, they can’t really be “knocked off.” The fact that it’s trending now as outerwear doesn’t change what the garment functionally is…a girdle that debuted nearly a century ago.

Part of why nylon, polyester, etc. were considered such miracle fibers is because they were moth-proof. Imagine…for years, you’ve had to worry about your wool winter clothes and stockings getting chewed up, and then suddenly, amazingly…you don’t. www.theatlantic.com/…
